Australian actor Candy Raymond has died at the age of 75, prompting an outpouring of tributes for one of the country’s memorable performers.
Candy, whose work spanned film, television and theatre, became a household name during a prolific career in the 1970s and 1980s.

Born in Sydney in 1950, Raymond rose to prominence with her role as Jill Sheridan in the groundbreaking soap Number 96. The character generated controversy at the time for her daring storylines and scenes.
She also earned acclaim for her portrayal of journalist Sandra Hamilton on the cult TV series Prisoner, cementing her place in Australian entertainment history.
Her film credits included Don’s Party, Alvin Rides Again and Breaking Up, while fans also remember her appearance on The Norman Gunston Show.

In later years, she appeared in the 2008 documentary Not Quite Hollywood: The Wild, Untold Story of Ozploitation, reflecting on her experience in 1970s Australian cinema.
