J.K. Rowling confirms Harry Potter fan theory

Now here’s something for wizarding wannabes to get excited about. J.K Rowling has finally confirmed a long-held fan theory about a Harry Potter character.

The author has taken to Twitter after speculation from the “muggle” world about the pronunciation of Hermione Grainger’s name. A fan theorised Rowling had the character Viktor Krum pronounce Hermione’s name wrong in the fourth book, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, just so she could teach us how to get it right.

And it turns out the theory was on the money, with Rowling tweeting back: “Theory correct.” This will come as sweet relief for Rowling’s 14 million Twitter followers, not to mention other Potterheads throughout the world.

In the book, Rowling had Krum pronounce Hermione’s name as “Her-my-own”, instead of the correct “Her-my-oh-knee.” The book was released in 2000, a year before the first Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
