Surveying the Birdcage from the top deck of the three-storey Lexus Design Pavilion, Kate Waterhouse turns down all tempting offers of hospitality, including Miyagi fried chicken and cold drip martinis. “I have a lunch sitting here at 12.30 so I’ve been saying no to all the yummy nibblies,” she tells WHO. “I’m going to have a proper lunch.”

Her Gucci knit nearly didn’t make it over the line to the Cup. “The dress is from Net-a-Porter and it arrived last night, so in the nick of time.” Because of the late arrival of the dress, Waterhouse, 32, had her Hatmaker floral headband designed a novel way: “Jonathan Howe got the headpiece together by looking at pictures of it.”
