Cast and crew have jetted off to Madrid where they have commenced filming for Netflix’s latest eight-episode mystery series, ‘High Seas’.
Set on a luxury transatlantic ship, a murder mystery is waiting to be solved. Unbeknownst to those on board— who are traveling from Europe to South America in search of a better future— a man, whose name does not appear on the passenger list and who no one remembers, has been murdered.
Through a series of unexpected twists and turns, one thing is clear: the murderer will not be able to leave the ship… but will rookie officer Nicolas Sala be able to crack the case?
In order to realistically recreate the ship where the murder occurred, the production team spent months researching the time period.
“The set of High Seas is one of the most ambitious projects we have ever faced,” art director Carlos Bodelón says. “The final result is impressive: we have been able to recreate the luxury and the glamour of a cruise ship from that decade. We have designed the furniture and added elements from the 1940s, including the navigation bridge mechanisms (helm, telegraph, etc), that are authentic”
The original Spanish historical drama stars Alejandra Onieva, Ivana Baquero and Jon Kortajarena.
The series is set to be released in 2019.
