“The definition of gaslighting.”

Two contestants from this year’s Married At First Sight keep making headlines for their shocking behaviour on screen: Harrison and Jesse.

But former MAFS star Brent Vitiello, who appeared on the popular reality show last year and married Tamara Djordjevic, has taken to Instagram to slam both Harrison and Jesse for their respective antics.

“Can I be first to say that the behaviour of the men in this season of MAFS is disgusting, straight up,” Brent said in a video he posted to his story.

“And on behalf of all, I want to say all straight men in Australia, because I don’t feel like I need to bring the gays into this because I think they have more class. So, on behalf of the straight men, I want to apologise because the emotional instability and the lack of knowledge in anything to do with a relationship or even knowing when you’re wrong is messed up,” he continued before singling out Harrison.

“Like, Harrison. I don’t know whether you’ve been babied your whole life, but you can’t see that you are the problem. You are the problem. The definition of gaslighting. I can’t believe the way you speak and you think you’re God’s gift.”

Brent then turned his attention to Jesse.

“We’ve got another one, Jesse man. Like, I don’t know whether… you’re hiding behind something, but this business and stuff needs to stop. I think he needs to grow up like, you don’t have your pick of the litter, you don’t have all of these girls running after you man,” he said.

Brent also posted images of Harrison – from a recent Married At First Sight episode where he told Bronte that she had communication problems and was overly emotional (both untrue) – and wrote, “I can’t with Harrison” and “going to start calling Harrison ‘BIC’ for gaslighting worse than a damn lighter”.

In all honesty, we think the Married At First Sight alum has made some serious points. Harrison has given off problematic vibes since he first appeared on this year’s season – it was revealed he had been sleeping with multiple women right up until his MAFS wedding – and things only escalated from there.

Some prime examples of Harrison’s appalling behaviour include him telling Bronte that he didn’t find her “sexually attractive” the day after they slept together for the first time and accusing Bronte of ‘abandoning’ him, even though he was the one who decided to move out of their shared apartment…

And as for Jesse, where do we begin? When we first met him on this year’s MAFS, he was reading out a long list of “icks” – dealbreakers that’d stop him from being interested in a woman. And these “icks” were as shallow and judgemental as humanly possible; for instance, Jesse hates women who are interested in star signs or use the word “honey” affectionately.

Oh and let’s not forget that in the latest instalment of Married At First Sight, while out at a pub, Jesse saw his wife Claire briefly go outside with Adam – another current MAFS contestant – and therefore, thought he was entitled to scream at her and demand to see her phone because she was clearly ‘cheating’.

Not only this, he barged into Adam’s apartment and demanded to see his phone too. Hopefully, both Harrison and Jesse leave MAFS as soon as possible so we don’t have to endure their “red flag” behaviour on screen anymore.

Married At First Sight continues on Sunday at 7pm on 9 and 9Now.
