There was yet another altercation at the My Kitchen Rules 2026 dinner table during Mary and Golden’s Instant Restaurant, and it was sparked by the last person anyone would expect.
Before the entrée was even served, Jane and Shane were called out by mother-daughter duo Krysten and Lucy for being “fake” and “two-faced”.
Alisha and Deanne promptly agreed with this statement while the other contestants rolled their eyes or held their breath with awkwardness.
Speaking to WHO, Tiffany and Giancarlo unpacked what this moment was really like sitting at the table, and how the drama got to this point.
What did Krysten and Lucy say to Jane at the table?
As Tiffany and Giancarlo received praise for their scoreboard topping Instant Restaurant, Tiffany said it was refreshing that people are so “honest and open” with each other and everyone else.
“Yeah, absolutely. We’re here because we’re being honest about what everyone is presenting at the table,” Jane chimed in, garnering a scoff from Krysten.
Lucy then said she disagreed, after which her mum accused Jane and Shane of sugar-coating their opinions.
“I feel like Jane and Shane are a lot less critical at the table with everyone here than you potentially are with the feedback you’re giving at the restaurants,” Krysten said. “You often have quite a harsh critique and then those people come and sit back down and your critique sort of melts away.
“It just looks a bit dishonest.”
“Are we getting the real Jane and Shane, or are they presenting in a way that’s a little bit two-faced,” Krysten added to the camera.

When Shane asked for an example, Lucy pointed out that they called Alisha and Deanne’s plates “ironic” when they were at the table, but when they weren’t there, the Blue Mountains couple had much more to say about the plates.
The couple denied ever using the word “ironic”, promptly followed by a cut to them saying that exact word the night before.
Shane also said that they’re not naturally critical of people around the table, which received quite a few eye-rolls from teams.

‘It was hard to jump in’
Tiffany told WHO that it was hard to chime in and ease the tension at the table after Krysten made this comment.
“Giancarlo, he’s so beautiful in being Switzerland – not sitting on the fence, but seeing both sides – and being compassionate and empathetic towards both arguments,” she said. “I think I’m that way as well, and so I did find it was hard to jump in because no one wanted to hear other people’s opinions on the matter.
“One person thought this, and one person thought that way, so you’re going to get hate either way.”
They also said the hours filming the show took more of a toll on them – and maybe other contestants – than they initially expected.
“It is a super challenging experience,” Tiffany said. “We’re all spending many hours around the table. Everyone’s sort of treading in the deep end.
“It’s actually super challenging to be on the show and do all those things. Everyone’s just trying to play catch-up as well, and it’s a competition, so it’s hard.”

Giancarlo weighs in on Jane’s ‘two-faced’ accusations
Giancarlo agreed that Jane tends to deny saying certain things, but put it down to tiredness as everyone was under the pump.
“Honestly, it was a lot more challenging than I expected and we’ve done a lot,” he said. “We’ve gone to a lot of places and have done a lot of things. That was wild.
“It was interesting to hear [Krysten’s comment about Jane]. Whether she remembers or not, clearly Jane will say something and then say that she didn’t say it. And some of the contestants are like that as well, you know?
Giancarlo added: “But who knows? To be honest with you, maybe we just don’t remember.”
