Contestants on this year’s The Block have expressed frustration and confusion over renovation budgets which they claim aren’t enough to complete their projects.

The teams were given $25,000 to renovate a ‘work from home’ space in their sheds, not enough, they say, to complete a media room and cladding on a huge shed.

During a corporate meeting, the teams unleashed their frustrations at Foremen Keith and Dan and also expressed confusion as to how they were supposed to spend the money.

Best mates Omar and Oz called body corporate with the hopes to gain a bigger budget for the space.

“We called a body corporate because we think it’s time for everybody to listen to us and I think they need to listen to our voices. We are struggling,” Oz said.

Aidan responded to Oz and confirmed that The Block wasn’t expecting the contestants to do a media room and an entire shed.

“This week’s room is the working from home space of your sheds… you don’t have to have your shed clad by the end of this week,” Aidan informed the teams.

“So the idea of the budget you were given is that there was an extra bit of money there to be able to start getting your cladding underway around your sheds.”

Keith proceeded to tell the teams that they should be able to ‘save money’ this week – a comment that caused backlash from other contestants.

Contestant Tom – the budgeter of the group – also said that over the past few weeks he has been struggling not to go over budget.

Omar said that he feels his chances of making any money at the auction are dropping every time he needs to drop a feature due to not being able to afford it.

After the meeting, teams headed back to their sites with no extra money for their project.
