Sydney publicist Roxy Jacenko revealed she has been diagnosed with breast cancer, weeks after her husband Oliver Curtis was jailed for insider trading.
Jackenko told the Daily Telegraph she discovered a lump in her breast while in the shower ten days ago.
‘”The timing is extraordinary,” she said. “What I have experienced in the past three weeks is the most shocking thing I have ever experienced. I don’t think there is anything that could shock me more now.”
The 36-year-old mother of two was due to undergo a “partial removal” of the lump, however; the procedure has been delayed as the cancer “is larger than first suspected, so more testing is required.”
Jacenko, who runs Sweaty Betty PR and the Ministry Of Talent said Curtis “happened” to call her while she was at the specialist, “so I just told him then.”
She has also told her four-year-old daughter Pixie, but won’t be telling her two-year-old son Hunter just yet.
“She [Pixie] cried last night [Monday night] because I said I wasn’t going to come home for two nights because I would be in hospital,” Jacenko said.
Curtis was sentenced to a minimum of one-year jail time last month for conspiracy to commit insider trading with his former high school friend John Hartman.
“Could this [her husband’s imprisonment] have added to it? You know what? I am not going to say no,” she said.
Jacenko doesn’t blame her husband as breast cancer runs in her family.
