The UK actress took home the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series for her role as Briony Ariston in the hit series.

In a room full of Hollywood’s finest, Doherty laughed before saying: “I promised my mum I wouldn’t swear, but what the f—!”

And while part of her sentiment was bleeped out by Paramount +, the swear word remained on air.

Doherty’s mum warned her not to swear after a previous faux pas during her acceptance speech at the Emmy’s last year.

Speaking about the moment on Jimmy Kimmel’s late night show, Erin quipped: “I really tried not to swear but it just came out! I got back to the hotel and FaceTimed my sister to show her my award. We were both screaming, then my mum said, ‘You did swear, though.'”

“So if I win anything again, I’ll shout out my mum and say sorry,”… and that she did!

Adolescence left the Golden Globes with heavy pockets after winning the Golden Globe for Best Limited Series, Anthology Series, and a Motion Picture Made for Television. The series won four Golden Globes in total.

Directed by Philip Barantini, the four-part series depicts the investigative procedural regarding the violent death of a 13-year-old girl in an English suburb.

The gritty show, which made use of the extraordinary one-shot cinematography, gained a global reputation for its moving performances.
