Barry Williams’ time on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia came to an abrupt end during a high-pressure elimination at the Elephant’s Graveyard, making him the third celebrity sent packing this season.

The Hollywood veteran, best known for his role on The Brady Bunch, exited the competition in a moment that many viewers felt came too soon.

An Honorary Aussie

During his stint in the jungle, the US native quickly became a camp favourite, earning the nickname Big Bad Bazza and was even jokingly crowned an honorary Aussie by his fellow celebrities.

He also proved his grit in some of the season’s most confronting challenges, including stepping up to face the Wheel of Misfortune’s final offering – a pig’s brain.

Pushing past the moment, Williams said thoughts of his children back home gave him the resolve to see it through.

“I’ve got an incredible 23-year-old son and a 14-year-old daughter,” he shared. “There was no way I was going to let them down. Once I committed, there was no turning back.”

What are viewers saying about Barry’s elimination?

It’s safe to say fans of the show aren’t happy with the new format, in particular their lack of control or say in when campers are eliminated.

One fan said online: “Not liking the elimination system this year. Barry did not deserve to be put up for elimination. He gave his all and embraced everything.”

A second penned: “I’m so furious Barry is gone. I hate this voting system. I think he could have made it to the final with [the] public vote. I really loved him and he was so happy to be there.”

However, a third user disagreed saying he felt Barry’s time in camp was up: “I know people liked Barry, but I honestly don’t think he had much more to give. He gave his story and his scenes became more and more cut down.”

Who else has left the jungle?

Williams now joins Deni Hines, who became the first celebrity to exit the jungle after uttering the show’s iconic phrase, and left by choice.

International supermodel Rachel Hunter was the first eliminated campmate, then reality TV star Matt Zukowski was booted.
