In front of a worldwide audience of more than 200 million viewers, Isaiah Firebrace conquered his nerves on May 13 and helped Australia to a ninth place finish at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev, Ukraine, with a solid rendition of “Don’t Come Easy.” “Meeting and performing with the artists from other countries and getting to know the Ukrainian people has been an experience I will never forget,” said the 2016 X Factor winner, 17. “I will always be honoured to have represented Australia.”
While in the Ukrainian capital of Kiev, Firebrace spent a lot of time talking to the press, rehearsing, meeting music lovers and being a tourist. He shared some exclusive photos with WHO so fans can get a behind-the-scenes look at his Eurovision experience.

Firebrace fine-tuned his performance of ‘Don’t Come Easy” in rehearsals before and after the Semi-Final on May 9. “What I personally want is something slightly on the lower spectrum of extravagance, but something that’s really cool, eye-catching and different,” Firebrace told WHO before his European trip began. “I feel like it will just kind of be a moment where everyone just focuses on the song and listens.”
Although Portugal’s Salvador Sobral took the Eurovision title with his sister’s song, “Amar Pelos Dois,” Firebrace finished ninth overall.
