Aside from rekindling his romance with singer Miley Cyrus, Liam Hemsworth has another reason to smile.
The Australian actor, 26, has been named this year’s ‘Sexiest Vegan Celebrity’ by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals – or PeTA – thanks to his meat- and diary-free lifestyle.
“Hot AND a friend to ALL animals! Congrats to our 2016 Sexiest Male Veg Celeb @LiamHemsworth,” the animal-rights organisation tweeted.
The former Neighbours star holds the title for this year with fellow celebrity vegan, singer/songwriter Jhene Aiko, 28, who was took out the female category.
Hemsworth, whose girlfriend, Cyrus, 23, earned PETA’s ‘Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity’ title in 2015, announced his new lifestyle choice to Men’s Fitness magazine last year.
“After all the information I gathered about the mistreatment of animals, I couldn’t continue to eat meat,” he explained. “The more I was aware of, the harder and harder it was to do.”
The younger brother of actor Chris Hemsworth also attributed his Hunger Games co-star Woody Harrelson, another former Sexiest Vegan celebrity winner, as one of the “original reasons” he became vegan.
