Actor William Shatner has filed for divorce from his wife of 18 years, Elizabeth.

According to TMZ, the 88-year-old Star Trek actor has called it quits on his marriage after the pair got hitched in 2001.
While the news broke on Tuesday, the divorce process has been in the works since February when the couple first split.
The publication claims that the pair had signed a “pre-nup” before they tied the knot, which should mean the divorce and financial settlement can run smoothly.

William and Elizabeth, 61, also didn’t have any children together, which will also ease any complications in their spilt.
Back in 2014 William gushed over Elizabeth during an interview with The Guardian.
“I married my [fourth] wife, Elizabeth, 14 years ago and I was attracted by her beauty first of all, which was an old syndrome for me … and I think I lucked out because she had so many other qualities as well,” said the actor at the time.
“Elizabeth has a great sense of humour and a great sense of adventure and she’s very nurturing. That combination of beauty, style, intelligence, humour and loving horses and dogs and children and loving her home and making a home for us, is quite a combination.
“So I’ve been very lucky because all that happened by accident. Love is what makes the cold universe warm.”
William has three other ex-wives, and three daughters.
The actor was on Star Trek from 1966 until 1966. Other notable TV shows include TJ Hooker (1982 until 1986) and Boston Legal from 2004 until 2008.
