House Rules’ Josh and Brandon pass their bonus room test

The brothers were awarded an additional five points for their winning room.

Adelaide couple Jess and Jared have a brand new home thanks to the hard work of the other six teams on House Rules but not all the feedback from judges Wendy Moore, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and Drew Heath was positive. In tonight’s episode, the couple returned to Jared’s “lad pad” to see if the teams adhered to their rules. “This is not your house!” said Jess as the couple arrived home.

Jess and Jared couldn’t believe their eyes when they returned to their newly renovated home.

Chippy brothers Josh and Brandon were thrown for a loop this week when they were given a bonus room midway through the reno and had to create a space for “films and footy” in only 3.5 days. The boys kicked goals with their other rooms – the kitchen and hallway – and were awarded an 8 out of 10 for these two. “If it was on the kitchen alone it would have been a 10,” said Jess. But the outcome of the bonus room was either going to make them or break them as a pass resulted in an extra five points whilst a fail meant the boys would be stripped of five points.

The pressure was on for Josh and Brandon.

“The first thing I thought of when we came up on that step was the movies… so, we loved that,” Jared said about the room. “Loved the King Kong wallpaper that hit the New York rule and the movies, your statement piece did the same as well.” The only thing the couple wasn’t completely sold on was the placement of Jared’s AFL medals, as they were “just placed on the TV cabinet,” said Jess. “We just weren’t really sure where you were going with that.”

Criticism aside, Jess and Jared gave Josh and Brandon a pass for their room, which moved the brothers to the top of the leaderboard with 28 points.

Married couple Kristie and Leigh remained on the bottom of the leaderboard, much to the annoyance of Kristie. “We’re very competitive and we definitely are here to win so no more Leigh and Kristie trying to help everyone we are just going to worry about helping ourselves from now on.”
