Her Marriage and Oliver’s stint in jail
In 2016, Roxy and her husband since 2012 Oliver Curtis made headlines when he was convicted of insider trading. He was charged and convicted for the $1.43 million he secured through trades that were based on illegal tip-offs given to him by a childhood friend.
While the former investment banker was sentenced to two years in prison, he was released after one year on a good behaviour bond. Unfortunately, his time in jail had a detrimental pact on Roxy’s pristine reputation.
“What Oli’s trial did was make me look as if anything I had was from ill-gotten gains. I was very resentful of that because I have worked since the age of 14. I bought my first property at 21, the second at 25. I have worked for every f—ing thing I’ve got. No one has handed me anything,” she revealed last year.
In the midst of his incarceration, Roxy was pictured kissing her ex-boyfriend, property developer Nabil Gazal, who she later confessed to having an affair with.
During an interview on Sunday Night, Roxy claimed: “I’m not proud of some of the things I did. I was in a situation where it was tough.”
Yesterday, Roxy opened up about her short fling with Nabil, admitting “it wasn’t my fault”, “he chased me”.
The couple—who share daughter, Pixie, eight and son, Hunter, five—chose to move on from the incident, with Oliver vowing to forgive the infidelity if Roxy forgave him for the jail sentence.
Her rise to fame
Roxy started building her empire at the age of 24 after dropping out of a fashion course at TAFE. Months later, she opened her PR firm which is rumoured to have an annual turnover of $10 million to $13 million. Since gaining notoriety, she has created influencer agency Ministry of talent, social media agency Social Union and hair accessories brand Pixie’s Bow— who her daughter Pixie, 7, is the face of.
In her downtime, she also hosts regular In Conversation seminars and also has five books under her belt — the most famous titled, Roxy’s Little Black Book of Tips and Tricks.
Health battles
Less than a month after her husband began his jail sentenced, Roxy was diagnosed with breast cancer. Speaking with Seven’s Sunday Night, the PR queen spoke about how she acted out after Oliver went to prison, and admitted she blamed him for giving her cancer.
The couple both broke down during the emotional interview where they discussed their turbulent marriage, and Doyle asks the pair if they have “forgiven each other”.
Two years later, she had another cancer scare which she says came as a shock considering the fact she takes Tamoxifen— a breast cancer prevention drug, daily. Fortunately, the lumps that had been seen during the scan were not cancerous.
