EXCLUSIVE: The two MAFS brides that didn’t deserve a second chance

Not even crocodile tears will give these brides a second chance!

We’ve finally been served the final MAFS dinner party on April 6, 2026, and it certainly left a sour taste in everyone’s mouths.

From earnest apologies and professions of love to bridal schemes and fake tears, the dinner party certainly delivered on the drama we had a break from over the Easter long weekend. While Stella and Filip and Rachel and Steven continued to celebrate their relationships conflict-free, brides Gia and Alissa did the complete opposite, throwing away everything they worked towards after their three-month stint on the experiment.

Speaking to WHO, MAFS groom David tells all about the “second chance” Alissa received, but perhaps didn’t deserve.

How did Alissa respond to David proposing (again)?

David and Alissa, despite being a strong couple for majority of the experiment, hit a major roadblock last week.

During the experiment’s Final Test, Alissa’s behaviour was the biggest “blindside” for fans and David alike. After David hoped to have an empathetic and constructive conversation with Alissa about her treatment of the final task, Alissa shut him down, resulting in both their rings being tossed to the side.

However, both contestants still showed up to the final dinner party, with David more willing to patch things up than Alissa.

In a dramatic display of love and commitment, David took a knee and proposed to Alissa in front of everyone, giving us flashbacks to her shock request at their wedding in episode one. However, her reaction this time round was not as animated.

After David apologised for taking off his ring and said he was willing to fight for everything that they worked towards during the experiment, Alissa replied with a simple “thank you” before shuffling back to the girls. Talk about awkward…

In an interview with WHO, David said that this gesture was his way of giving “Alissa a second chance”.

“For me, I was like, look, I came this far, three months in, why would I just throw in the towel?” he said. “Three months is a huge investment for me. I went against my family, I went against everyone for this experiment.”

David explained how apprehensive he was to even enter the experiment in the first place, particularly after he was advised against it by almost everyone he knew.

“I passed the interviews, and I still said I wasn’t going to do it,” he said. “They [the MAFS producers] literally were pressing me to do it.”

“So I came in last minute, I put so much on the line, so I wasn’t going to throw it away. I had to give it a second shot.”

However, in the end, David’s leap of faith was fruitless. As all the other couples decided to reminisce on what they loved about the experiment, Alissa decided to rain on everyone’s parade, claiming that it “wasn’t all rainbows and sunshine.”

Alissa not only refused to reciprocate David’s “second chance” hopeful energy, but also resorted to calling him “toxic” and full of “red flags” at the dinner table, once again not allowing him to get a word in.

While David was willing to give their relationship a second chance, it seems Alissa was too “hurt” and had already made her mind up, and nothing David could do or say would change it.

We think it’s pretty clear how final vows will go tomorrow night for this pair…

What was Bec and Gia’s dinner party scheme?

It wasn’t just Alissa who was given a “second chance” at this dinner party. Despite telling everyone that she had fled to Melbourne to be reunited with her daughter, Gia never even left Sydney, and instead was occupying herself at a local pub.

Gia gave Scott an ultimatum in the last episode, telling him to leave the experiment with her or their relationship would end for good. Scott ultimately felt betrayed and manipulated, leaving him in tears as Gia hopped in an uber and he watched the footage of her flirting with her “alternative match” during the experiment’s Final Test.

However, like all of her so-called exits this season, Gia returned for the final dinner party (shocker!), this time with unlikely ally Bec by her side, coaching her on how to win the group’s favour.

Shockingly, Gia’s plan to “out victim him” and produce fake tears did not work on the other couples, as they’ve watched her cause drama for the entire season.

While she tried to claim that Scott “used [her] for her body” and that she felt insecure as a “single mother”, Stella and the other contestants snapped back, tired of her excuses and lies.

After Scott left the dinner party in tears, with David consoling him, Gia ran after her groom (after some significant convincing from Rachel might I add) and they ultimately hugged it out and parted ways when Scott said he couldn’t get past all her “lies.”

Oh how the powerful have fallen.
