The final week of MAFS has begun and contestants have been given one final test — the test of loyalty (side-eye). While most couples passed, the similarities between brides Alissa and Gia’s behaviour was the plot twist no one saw coming.
As their on-screen husbands David and Scott fled the scene after meeting their ‘alternative match’ (the person that was almost cast on the show to be their partner), their brides did quite the opposite.
Instead they excitedly leaned into the task, so much so that it had MAFS fans raising eyebrows at their unlikely similarities.
This season of MAFS has had it’s fair share of “villains” and feuds, with Alissa bearing the brunt of brides like Gia’s “bullying” and manipulation.
While an excited reaction to a task by no means paints them as twins cut from the same cloth, it has exposed to fans just how much the season has focused more on drama and bride-to-bride conflict over the relationships themselves… and the red flags that are only surfacing now.
Did this Final Test break these couples’ relationships?
At the start of last night’s episode, on March 30, both Gia and Scott and Alissa and David were on the rocks.
While Gia started the week with a drink with her new bestie Bec (no one saw that coming), Alissa asked David to speak up over and over again, ironically never giving him a chance to get a word in.
This left things a little shaky for both of the couples before they entered the experiments’ final task.
As soon as Scott and David realised what the task would be, they politely declined their potential matches and hid in the bathroom.
As soon as the reality hit in for Gia and Alissa, a sense of excitement seemed to wash over the women.

Now, was hiding in the bathroom a step too far? Perhaps.
Choosing to stay and complete the task by no means signalled cheating.
However, it was the way the two brides spoke to their alternative matches that raised some red flags for fans.
Why did fans disapprove of Gia and Alissa’s behaviour?
For almost the entire season so far, Alissa and Gia have been pitted against each other as their personalities and behaviours clashed.
However, if Gia and Bec can patch up their differences and gossip about their husbands at the pub, the realisation that Alissa and Gia may have more in common than people initially thought isn’t all that far fetched.
Fans debated online which brides’ behaviour was better or worse.
Some fans claimed that “Alissa was way worse than Gia”, while others have resorted to grouping the brides together, claiming that both “Gia and Alissa” belong “in the bin.”
“I feel so bad for Scott and David,” one user said on Reddit. “Their wives are horrible, disloyal people who are stuck in their mean girl high school stage. It’s obvious why those 2 haven’t found their soulmate yet, if their soulmate even exists.”
“There’s a lot of toxic masculinity coming from Alyssa, Bec and Gia,” one user noted online.
“Most of these relationships are fragile and on life support,” another fan commented. “That said, I can’t believe some of the things said by Bec and Alissa. This experience shouldn’t be an excuse to dump on your partner and say horrible things.”
Some fans have even questioned the morality of the task itself.
“The Final Test challenge is diabolical,” one user argued online. “How do trained professionals, whatever they are experts, think that’s OK?”
From criticising Gia for wanting an “alpha man” like James (her alternative match) – who fans “like even less” than the bride – to calling out Alissa for not “[letting] her man speak” as “he constantly tries to communicate”, fans certainly had some strong opinions after this episode, with the women at the centre.
Since the end of the episode, fans have also been speculating about the status of these couples’ relationships as David and Scott have been in each other’s TikToks joking about their wives’ feud and appearing to be good friends… without their wives making an appearance.
So, while their relationships may not have worked out, at least one good thing came from Gia and Alissa’s similarities this week… it allowed a bromance to bloom!
