The highly anticipated release of The Devil Wears Prada 2 is almost here, and after the New York premiere on April 21, 2026, everyone is eager to unpack all the celebrity cameos sure to send audiences spiralling in theatres.
After rumours swirled about celebrity cameos being cut (*cough cough Sydney Sweeney*), we’ve done some digging into what big names will make an appearance in the sequel, and who was placed on the director’s chopping block.
Be warned, because we honestly couldn’t believe who they decided to cut…

What cameos were cut from The Devil Wears Prada 2?
Sydney Sweeney
The cameo that started this digging into the ‘who’s in and who’s out’ of The Devil Wears Prada 2 cast was none other than Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney.
Entertainment Weekly first reported the news, claiming that Sydney initially filmed a three-minute scene where she played herself being dressed by Emily Blunt’s character, Emily Charlton. According to the publication’s source, the scene didn’t work structurally with the rest of the sequence, leading to it’s removal.
Anna Wintour
The cut we didn’t think production would be brave enough to do was the removal of Condé Nast’s global chief content officer and global editorial director Anna Wintour – the personality that inspired Meryl Streep’s character Miranda Priestly in the first place as she acts as the Editor-in-Chief of the fictional Runway magazine (aka Vogue).

Director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna told Amy Odell in an interview on her Back Row podcast that Anna Wintour paid a visit to the sequel’s set in Milan and they filmed what the director called a “gag take.”
However, there were two reasons why Anna’s performance didn’t make the cut: the performance wasn’t polished and it felt “too meta” to place her in the film.
If you think calling Anna Wintour’s unpolished feels like a sin, so did the director David Frankel, who told The Back Row podcast that while Wintour got ahead of her cue, leading to the shot being partially out of focus, Frankel couldn’t tell the fashion mogul to do it again.
“I can’t ask Anna to do a take two,” he said on the podcast.
While her appearance won’t appear in the film itself, the director did reveal that it will appear as a bonus feature when the sequel lands on streaming, with him clarifying that another reason why he didn’t add Wintour into the film itself was because “that felt too meta.”
Of course, Wintour still managed to make her mark on the film (if being the main character’s blueprint wasn’t enough already) as Frankel also revealed that Wintour – while watching on set in Milan – told production that there were too many pink flowers in the house of Dior office scene where Emily Blunt’s character worked.
The screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna told Back Row that the pink blooms were quickly replaced with a single white vase. “I came running out and I was like, ‘Dude, kill the flowers,'” she said.
Conrad Ricamora
Conrad Ricamora from How to Get Away With Murder was initially cast as Andy’s (Anne Hathaway) roommate, but after multiple test screenings, her character was eventually cut as audiences questioned why Andy needed a roommate in the first place, and preferred her to spend more time with Tracie Thoms’ character, Lily, aligning more with the 2006 original.
What cameos stayed in The Devil Wears Prada 2?
If you’re salty about these cuts, then fear no more as there are still some stellar cameos in store for The Devil Wears Prada 2.
The one and only Mother Monster Lady Gaga makes an appearance in the film, as well as her music, as she recorded the song ‘Runway’ with Doechii for the film’s soundtrack.

Donatella Versace, who is stepping down as the creator director of her family’s brand, as well as supermodel Naomi Campbell, who is seated next to Miranda Priestly at the Dolce & Gabbana spring 2026 show, also make appearances in the film, leaning into the luxury fashion world that the film inhabits.
This also reveals that there will be some Milan fashion week content we cannot wait to see, following in the footsteps of the original after it’s Paris fashion week plotline.
Who else is in the cast for The Devil Wears Prada 2?
Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci will all reprise their roles from the first film.
Thank God.
Tracie Thoms, who played Andy’s best friend Lily, and Tibor Feldman, who played the chairman of Runway, will also reprise their roles.
However, Adrian Grenier, who played Andy’s boyfriend Nate, will not return.
In addition to Patrick Brammall, stars confirmed to join the film include Kenneth Branagh, who plays Miranda’s new husband, Simone Ashley, who plays Amari Bari, Miranda Priestly’s first assistant, Justin Theroux, who play’s Emily Blunt’s love interest Benji, Lucy Liu, who plays the part of Benji’s (Justin Theroux) ex-wife, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, Helen J. Shen, and Caleb Hearon, who plays the role of Charlie, Miranda Priestly’s second assistant.
