Dancing with the Stars Australia has returned with a bang this year, giving us an All Stars season full of our favourites.
With competitors like Ricki-Lee, Bridie Carter, and Courtney Act returning to the show, there’s expected to be plenty of great dancing to be seen.
The season has also given us four wildcard competitors, who are completely new to the show – Cameron Daddo, Kris Smith, Sam Mac and Deni Hines.
Competition might be tight, but each episode will see someone heading home! Here’s who has left the 2022 season so far.
Cameron Daddo
Coming in as a wildcard on the season, Cameron had never actually competed on Dancing With The Stars, unlike most of his fellow contestants.
As he was introduced to the audience, the former Home and Away star revealed that he had auditioned for the lead role in Australian cult classic film, Strictly Ballroom, and that it had come down to the choice between himself and the chosen actor, Paul Mercurio (who also judges on the show).
“Paul was right choice for the movie, but maybe this is my shot,” he joked.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t.
Paul and his partner Megan performed a tango, and received a collective score of 23, the lowest of the night.
Despite being the first booted, Cameron took to Instagram to share the party he held with his family on the night, writing that he “couldn’t have done it without you guys.”
Angie Kent
Former Bachelorette and Gogglebox star Angie Kent was the second celebrity voted out of All Stars.
Returning to the show to dance with the same partner she starred with in 2020, Julian, Angie danced a cha-cha in an attempt to impress the judges.
While she danced well, her nerves got the better of her, leading to a slightly messy performance.
However, the TV star confirmed that she had fun, and enjoyed her time much more than her 2020 go on Dancing With The Stars.
“Last time I probably wasn’t 100 per cent myself. I was mentally, physically, emotionally vacant. I was not there,” she said.
“I had fun! I really didn’t have fun last time and I really had fun this time,” she told host Daryl Somers.
Bridie Carter
Two former winners, Bridie Carter and Anthony Koutoufides, both landed themselves in the bottom this week.
Anthony danced a jive with his partner, Jess, and gained an overall score of 28, while Bridie danced a samba and scored 36.
Both couples were given a final chance to save themselves by dancing a salsa to the same song, but the judges ultimately decided to save Anthony.
While she gave it her all in a stunning yellow dress, Bridie and her partner, Craig, were not chosen to go on, despite garnering the higher score the first time around.
Sam Mac
After a strong start on the series, wildcard Deni Hines was back to dance a foxtrot with partner Lyu Masada. Not even an ankle injury during practice could stop Deni, who ended up scoring a very decent 33. However, with the strength of the group around her, and the public vote contributing, Deni landed herself in the bottom alongside Sam Mac.
Sam danced a jive with his partner Ruby, but feedback from the judges claimed it fell a bit flat, and needed more work. He scored a total of 19, sending him to dance-off with Deni.
Both pairs danced a salsa, but Deni and Lyu were chosen by the judges to continue.
“Helen’s always been my favourite judge,” Sam joked at the end, given she was the only one to vote for him to go through.
“I just want to say thank you to Ruby, who has been very patient throughout this experience,” he added.
“It’s been a really fun time and I’ve really enjoyed it. If we make people smile and laugh then I’m happy,” he said.
Kylie Gillies
Although Kylie’s samba saw her receive two scores of eight and two of nine, leaving her with a pretty decent 34, she was ranked lower by the audience and landed in the bottom three.
She was joined there by Anthony Koutoufides and Kris Smith, and with Kris being saved by the judges, it was time for her to say goodbye, along with Anthony.
Kylie posted a number of photos from her final dance to Instagram this morning, writing that she was “super proud” of herself and dancing partner Aric.
Anthony Koutoufides
Anthony Koutoufides came back this year to defend the win he received in 2006, but unfortunately, he didn’t make it to the very end.
A quickstep dance saw him receive a decent score of 35, but audience rankings saw him land in the bottom three alongside Kylie and Kris, where Kris was the only one chosen to go on in the double elimination.
Rob Mills
While Rob was one of the lower scores on the night, he still sat a total of 36 thanks to extra points from his Charleston efforts at the beginning of the show, keeping him equal to Deni Hines.
Despite his efforts, he was sent to dance-off at the end, and while he gave a very energetic salsa with partner Alana, he wasn’t voted by any of the judges to go on – they were explicitly torn between Deni and Olympia.
“I’d love to say thank you to Alana and thank you to the network for putting on Dancing,” Rob said.
“Hopefully there’s a lot of boys out there who look at it and go, if Rob Mills can do it, I can do it,” he added.
Olympia Valance
Olympia had a very strong season, and even scored a total of 37 for her opening foxtrot but was eventually not chosen to go on by the judges.
Todd McKenny said it was ‘the curse of the salsa’ that got to her, given Olympia was a ‘spectacular’ dancer, but Deni Hines just pulled ahead to be the one to go on.
“Honestly, Dancing With The Stars has been the most unbelievable experience for me,” she said emotionally.
“I just have to say thank you to Gustavo, because he is the most unbelievable man and the most unbelievable coach,” she said of her partner.
