For Perth couple Kyle and Leslie, their dream of making it on The Block has been almost a decade in the making.
After making the first round of auditions when they originally applied over eight years ago, the pair have continued to give it a crack countless times.
And while they’ve kept busy, welcoming two boys and completing their own renovations, Leslie, 34, tells WHO, “It’s just sort of always been in the back of our minds.”
While firefighter Kyle, 36, was ready to throw in the towel, education assistant Leslie “convinced him one last time” and the rest, they say, is history!

Backyard and Pool
This week, the five couples tackled landscaping. With drama behind the scenes continuing to brew and finances getting tight, the teams had a tough week.
With just half a point difference between the top two teams, Steph and Gian took out the win with 38 out of 40 points.
Despite giving the week their all, Kyle and Leslie received mixed feedback about their space. The judge’s main critique was that the garden wasn’t child-friendly and the styling wasn’t up to scratch.
The pair were awarded a score of 33 out of 40.

Upstairs bathroom and redo rooms
This week, the five couples tackled not one but two rooms; the upstairs bathroom and a ‘re-do’ of a room of their choice. With drama behind the scenes continuing to brew the teams had a tough week. Whilst Eliza and Liberty took out the win, another team was unable to present a finished room.
Kyle and Leslie’s decision to remove their wall from the living room to transform the space into a more “open-space” design was a huge hit however, their bathroom was hammered by the judges who didn’t believe their layout and placement were optimal.
The pair were awarded a score of 23.5 out of 30.

Kids’ Rooms Week
This week, the five couples tackled not one but two children’s rooms. With drama behind the scenes continuing to brew, the teams had a tough week, but all five ultimately delivered stunning rooms.
Steph and Gian took out the win this week with perfect full marks.
Although it was a great effort from Kyle and Leslie, they once again came last in the challenging competition. The judges believed the themes of the room were too narrow a focus and were concerned the spaces wouldn’t appeal to a wider market.
The pair were awarded a score of 24 out of 30.

Master Ensuite Bathroom Week
This week of the season saw the five couples tackle another difficult space on The Block – the master ensuite bathroom.
Amidst a week of high tension and a lot of drama, both Eliza and Liberty and Kristy and Brett tied for first place.
Initially, the judges loved the room Kyle and Leslie delivered – however, some major functionality issues quickly became apparent, especially the cramped double shower and positioning of the shower grate.
The pair were awarded a score of 22.5 out of 30.

Kitchen and Laundry week
The seventh week of the season saw the five couples tackle another massive space on The Block – the Kitchen and Laundry.
Eliza and Liberty took out their first win of the season with a near-perfect room, scoring 29 out of 30 points.
The judges loved Kyle and Leslie’s “sexy” space, admiring the ceiling and the curves. Neale could see Kyle and Leslie’s vision and he loved it, however, the floor plan of the butler’s pantry was wrong.
The pair were awarded a score of 25 out of 30.

Bedroom and walk-in robes
The sixth week of the season saw the five couples tackle another massive space on The Block – the bedroom and walk-in robes.
Steph and Gian ultimately won the week with a near-perfect room, scoring 29 out of 30 points.
It was a tough week for Kyle and Leslie, with the judges finding issue after issue with their space. Marty summed up the judge’s feelings about the room, explaining that the space would look great on Instagram, but wasn’t super livable.
The pair were awarded a score of 21 out of 30.

Living and Dining Room
The fifth week of the season saw the five couples tackle living and dining room week – one of the biggest spaces on The Block.
Leah and Ash ultimately won the week with their bold, unique room.
Unfortunately, Kyle and Leslie’s room was too tight. Described by Neale as a “beautifully styled disaster,” the judges believe the room had major planning issues.
The pair were awarded a score of 20 out of 30.

Down Stairs Bathroom
The fourth week of the season saw the five couples tackle the downstairs bathroom and the competition was close, to say the least.
Leah and Ash ultimately won the week by a nail-biting half a point thanks to the use of their gnome which gave the couple an extra point. Kristy and Brett were close on their heels in second place.
The smallest room in Block history was well received by the judges who loved the vanity and high-end feel. “A bloody good room,” Shaynna said.
The pair were awarded a score of 26 out of 30.

Work From Home Space
The third week of the season saw the five couples tackle the work-from-home space and whilst all teams did finish, it was a race to the finish line as wet weather wreaked havoc.
In the end, week three saw Steph and Gian win for the second time in a row! Kyle and Leslie missed out on the top spot by only half a point which is amazing considering they only spent $13,917 in total.
The judges were impressed with the team’s ability to deliver a low-cost room and praised their consistent style.
The pair were awarded a score of 26 out of 30.

Studio
The second week of the season saw the five couples tackle the granny flat, appropriately re-named the studio. With tense body corporate meetings, alliances forming and drama almost every day, the week was a big one and as judging commenced, it was clear that not every team followed the brief.
The judges were impressed when first walking into the studio bedroom thanks to it’s size and attention to detail in styling, however, they weren’t a fan of Kyle and Leslie’s decision to create a pilates studio as well, believing it was a wasted opportunity to create a fully self-contained studio with a kitchenette.
The pair were awarded a score of 23 out of 30.

Guest Bathroom
The first week of the season saw the five couples tackle one of the hardest rooms – the bathroom. From demolishing the wrong room, to hiring new builders and even allegations of cheating, the first official week on the Block was full of drama.
In the end, week one saw a tight competition with Kyle and Leslie winning by half a point.
With beautiful curves and a warm, lovely feeling, the judges loved this room! The only critiques were an oddly placed drain and a lack of underfloor heating.
The pair were awarded a score of 25 out of 30.

House Decider Challenge
The debut episode of the season saw the five couples compete in a house decider challenge to decide which house they will get for the remainder of the season.
The challenge saw the teams given 48 hours and a budget of $5000 to create a kid’s room based on a Disney+ character.
Whilst the team hit the brief and completed a room, their styling wasn’t a hit with the judges – especially the Lego left on the floor. Unfoutantly, their Grogu-themed room needed the extra styling which resulted in them coming fourth in the competition.
The team received a score of 17.5 out of 30
