Well, this is one way to find out who won The Voice.
Yung Milla had only just been crowned the winner of The Voice Australia 2026 when Leyla Sabo accidentally gave away the result. The problem? Some fans were still watching the finale.
The 13-year-old became a fan favourite throughout the competition. Following Yung Milla’s win, she shared a sweet video with him on Instagram.
In the clip, the pair can be seen dancing together, with text across the video reading: “Big bro just won the voice 2026”.
Leyla also had nothing but love for her fellow contestant, writing in the caption: “Congratulations [@yungmilla_] I’m so damn proud of you and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for you, you’re a game changer and I got nothing but love for you and your family!”
A very wholesome message, yes. A slight issue? Parts of Australia hadn’t actually seen the winner announced yet.
The Voice finale aired at different local times across Australia. That meant South Australia was 30 minutes behind Sydney, while Western Australia was two hours behind.
So while Yung Milla had already been crowned on the east coast, some viewers elsewhere were still sitting down to watch the grand finale.
‘You spoiled it’
It didn’t take long for the comments section to fill with fans crying, ‘Spoiler!’
One South Australian fan pointed out they hadn’t even reached the winner announcement yet, writing: “We haven’t gotten the reveal yet in SA!!!”.
Leyla quickly realised what had happened and replied: “Ohh sorry the voice page has announced it already”.
Unfortunately, the damage had already been done.
Another viewer had only just started watching The Voice before making the fatal mistake of checking social media. The result was right there. Then came the bluntest review of all: “You spoiled itttt I was still watching.”
Honestly, we’ve all been there.
‘I have learned to not look at social media‘
And South Australian viewers weren’t the only ones caught out.
With Western Australia two hours behind Sydney, some West Aussie fans were only just settling in to watch the finale while the winner had already been announced elsewhere.
One viewer admitted they had learned their lesson, writing: “As a West Aussie I have learned to not look at social media until three hours after these kind of shows end.”
Another wrote: “Argh, so it’s only just started in WA.”
And, well, it seems the golden rule of reality TV remains: stay off social media until you’ve finished watching.
Leyla and Yung Milla’s The Voice journey
Leyla and Yung Milla both made it through to the semi-final, but their journeys took very different turns from there.
Yung Milla was coached by Melanie C. He eventually made it through to the final alongside Daisha Auda, Tommy Novak and The 60Four.
Leyla, meanwhile, was eliminated after Ronan Keating chose The 60Four for his spot in the Grand Finale, despite the young singer becoming one of the season’s biggest fan favourites.
At the time, Leyla told WHO she was disappointed not to make the Grand Finale, but was proud of how far she had come. And judging by her very enthusiastic congratulations to Yung Milla, there doesn’t seem to be any hard feelings.
