Homestays Week has began on MAFS, with the couples figuring out if they can survive together outside the experiment. While Filip was grilled by Stella’s friend Joe (again) and Rachel and Steve had a successful boating adventure, it seems Gia and Scott are going through a rocky time.
Gia moved into Scott’s home in the Gold Coast, hung out with his friends, and certainly had a lot of opinions about his apartment… with one detail in particular setting the course for a downward spiral.
A pink neck pillow.
WHO spoke to Gia about the dilemma that left MAFS fans calling her “insecure”, with the bride biting back.
Quick recap: Why all the fuss over a pink pillow?
After setting foot in Scott’s apartment and criticising it’s size and cleanliness, Gia soon focused in on one household item in particular – the pink aeroplane neck pillow.
Then, the crash out began, with audiences watching clip after clip of Gia questioning Scott about the pillow and the secret girlfriend it apparently represents.
While it’s valid in one sense for a woman to freak out about seeing some fancy shampoo, female bathroom products, or even shoes or a cardigan left behind.
However, a pink neck pillow seems a little far fetched?
MAFS fans have called out the absurdity of this crash out, listing logical reasons why Scott may have the pillow.
Gia believed it represented a time when Scott must have “brought a woman to this apartment”.
“If only Scott got a neck pillow with a picture of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Carl Weathers arm wrestling,” another fan sarcastically commented. “This would have never happened.”

Gia claims she ‘downplayed’ her genuine feelings about the pillow
However, when speaking to WHO, Gia said she “downplayed” her reaction to the pillow on the day.
“I don’t know if it shows a pink neck pillow for an aeroplane,” Gia said to WHO. “I downplay the h–l out of it, because he’s like, please don’t bring it up, like, say you’re fine with it, please.”
While this apparent pleading from Scott perhaps shows that the pillow maybe did have some underlying meaning that we’re all missing, at the end of the day, if that was her chill reaction, I can’t imagine what would’ve been said if she actually let loose.
MAFS fans are calling Gia ‘insecure’
While Gia has repeatedly told Scott that she doesn’t like “drama” in the real world, Homestays Week for this bride is off to an awkwardly criminating start.
After watching this episode, MAFS fans are spiralling over Gia’s behaviour and criticising her “rigid sex role bit.”
“Hinting that men would never buy pink is so caveman era,” one fan commented online.
“So what it’s pink, its just a colour,” another fan agreed. “To get that fragile over a pillow really shows how insecure she is.”

However, some fans seem to be more patient with this bride, giving her the benefit of the doubt after some viewers compared her to ex-intruder groom Tyson – a controversial figure earlier in the season due to his outdated views on homosexuality and women.
While some viewers argued that Gia “would have been super stoked with Tyson, the uber masc one”, others responded saying that “she would have hated his attitude to queer people, sex workers and women, though.”
Either way, Gia’s response was certainly a little over the top, and fans are talking about what random item is appropriate to send someone over the edge.
