Farmer Wants A Wife is one of the most successful dating shows on Australian TV, so it makes sense that farmers might line up to take part.
For Farmer Jason, his current stint on the show isn’t actually his first attempt!
Speaking to WHO, the 37-year-old said, “I did try [out] a couple of years ago. I got down to the last handful to get chosen, but I just missed out.”
Jason continued, “But yeah, I didn’t think I’d actually do it or get on when they first contacted me. I thought, ‘Here we go again, I’ll see how far we get this time.’
“And then it all progressed pretty quickly and the next thing you know, they’re saying, yep, I’m going to be on there.”
He added that it felt like a “second chance”.

Reflecting on his experience, the dairy farmer went on to say that appearing on the reality series has helped him in ways he hadn’t imagined.
“I opened up a bit more on the show, doing all those voxxies,” he explained, referring to the solo interviews to camera that the contestants film.
He continued, “Even though they were painful, they did open me up, and that’s a good thing that’s come out of the show.”
Three women leave Farmer Jason’s farm
Meanwhile, it wasn’t just Jason’s journey to actually appearing on the show that was less than straightforward – his time filming has also been pretty wild so far, with three women all choosing to leave his farm within a matter of days.
On Sunday night, Jessie decided not to come to the farm, despite making it to town, and Jessica walked out when Jason decided not to send anyone home.
Then, on Monday night, Beth decided to leave because her daughter wasn’t coping without her.

Making this unfortunate turn of events even sadder was the fact that Jason had said earlier in the episode that Beth was someone he could envision a future with.
Speaking about losing two of his ladies so early on, Jason said, “I could understand, because obviously it’s not a natural situation to be in a house basically competing for someone.
“But I was getting worried because I had two girls leave, and it wasn’t supposed to happen.”
He added, “I had a bit of self-doubt coming in there, like, ‘Oh, have I done something wrong?’ I was worried how many other girls are going to start leaving as well, so it was a bit scary.”
Beyond the immediate shock on the farm, Jason told us he worried about how the public would judge him.
“I was in a bit of a panic there at one stage,” he recalled, labelling the ordeal the hardest part of his entire television experience. “I wasn’t expecting that to happen.”
