Farmer Wants A Wife has come to an end for Farmers Jason and Zac, with the conclusion of their search for love eliciting a range of fan emotions, from cheers to tears and disappointment.
Viewers were over the moon that Zac chose Maya, gushing about how wholesome their finale moment was. However, Jason’s decision to pick Poppy raised eyebrows – and a lot of questions. After Jason visited his ladies’ families – and met one very interesting-looking dog – he had a tough decision to make. For fans, the choice was an obvious one, but – surprise, surprise – Jason went the other way.
As Poppy and the dairy farmer walked off into the sunset on Monday night, viewers were “screaming at the TV”, baffled by his decision.
“I was shocked,” one fan wrote online. “How could she think showing him houses sold by her firm would be fun. The hairless dog won’t like the farm. Her car won’t fit his kids in. She’s not maternal enough to be a step mum & says he stinks when he’s been working. Logan might be younger but at least she knows how to look after kids & wants more.”
“He’s going to regret his decision,” another viewer predicted.
“Didn’t he say that in the past he would stop dating ladies who didn’t want kids?” a third questioned. “I don’t understand why he picked Poppy…none of this makes sense. Poor Logan.”
Viewers weren’t the only ones left scratching their heads, with Logan telling WHO how she felt about the whole ordeal.
While she confessed that she “was more leaning that he was going to pick Poppy by the end of it,” that didn’t make his choice any less confusing for the contestant.
“It just didn’t really make sense to me,” Logan told us.
‘Obviously, he doesn’t really know what he wants’
Logan reiterated that from the moment she applied to Farmer Wants A Wife, Jason’s “whole profile was that he wants a family” and that “he wants more kids.”
You can imagine Logan’s (and quite frankly everyone’s) confusion then when Poppy – who, throughout the whole experience was firm about not wanting to have kids – was Jason’s final choice…let alone on the show at all.
“For me – when it was out of both of us – the fact that he still had Poppy there, I guess, I was like, well, obviously he doesn’t really want [more kids] then,” Logan said. “Because I know if I was in that position and someone had those opinions – especially on something so big like that – I wouldn’t have even looked twice at them.
“I don’t know, that’s why I was like, ‘well, obviously he doesn’t really know what he wants.'”
She added: “It didn’t make sense why he would pick Poppy…I don’t know, it was very confusing, very, very confusing.”
Fans convinced Farmer Jason made the wrong choice
When WHO chatted to the farmer earlier in the season, he defended his decision to keep Poppy on the show despite her beliefs, explaining that their connection looked “promising” and also hinting that Poppy may “consider having a kid” down the line.
“Sometimes I’ve thought about how in the past I’ve said no to people who didn’t want kids,” Jason said. “And then I’ve probably said no to good people, good potential people, and was probably thinking about how that should change.”
Regardless of this, fans are convinced that Jason “will be forever sorry” about his decision.
“He was a fool choosing Poppy,” one fan wrote online.
“I agree! You could see all along he was dazzled by Poppy. Ridiculous,” another viewer seconded.
The fans may be right as rumours have already started spreading online that Farmer Jason and Poppy have split. While we won’t know for certain until the Farmer Wants A Wife reunion, viewers are holding out hope that their instincts were spot on.
