NEED TO KNOW
- Scarlett from Farmer Dylan’s farm revealed that she was going through a breakup while Farmer Wants A Wife was airing.
- The polo player gets candid about the reality of dating after being on the show.
- Dylan and Ally are still “close friends” with the contestant.
It’s common knowledge that filming for Farmer Wants A Wife finishes well before the series airs. However, to keep the magic alive, the private lives of the contestants are often kept firmly under wraps.
This means that for many of the contestants whose farmers didn’t choose them, life continued as normal…and that includes dating.
Now, dating while you star in a dating show airing on national television isn’t the most normal of circumstances, and many of this year’s contestants got pretty candid with WHO about what the experience was like, most notably Scarlett from Farmer Dylan’s farm.
Imagine having your heart broken by one man while watching your heart get broken by another man on national TV. Well, that was Scarlett’s experience.
The polo player shared some vulnerable insights with WHO about her experience, revealing what she learnt. She also had a warning for future Farmer Wants A Wife applicants, cautioning them about the pipeline from reality TV to reality that many contestants know nothing about.

‘During the airing of the show, I was going through a breakup’
Scarlett was initially hesitant to share her dating experience after the show. However, after having time to reflect on two heartbreaks at once (Dylan and her new relationship), she confessed to finding new confidence and perspective.
“During the airing of the show, I was going through a breakup where my trust had been broken,” she said. “It was really hard navigating the show while losing that person.”
“At the time, it was one of the most genuine connections I had had, and I was like, ‘Now I understand why I didn’t end up with Dylan.'”
She added: “I have learned a few big lessons post-show, especially from that relationship. Love alone isn’t always enough. Unfortunately, it takes two people who are willing to fix the relationship, and there are some things you just can’t fix.”
‘I want to heal’
After experiencing one break-up in real life, while watching a previous break-up unfold on national TV, Scarlett told WHO that she’s focusing on “rebuilding [her] confidence and becoming the best version of [herself]”.
“I do believe this quote, ‘hurt people, hurt people’, so I think whoever I’m with next, I want to heal before I consider a relationship,” she said. “But in saying that, despite how things have ended, whether with Dylan or my most recent relationship, I genuinely wish them the very best.
“Every person – they leave you with something. They share a part of themselves with you. I’m grateful for those experiences and what they’ve taught me. I’ll always choose gratitude over resentment, no matter how it ended. I think that’s the best way to go about things.”
Dylan and Ally supported Scarlett through her heartbreak
Scarlett has also spoken out about her friendship with Farmer Dylan and Ally after the show, revealing that they both have helped her through some “hard moments” after the show.
“Right now, post-show, Dylan is one of my closest friends,” Scarlett admitted. “He and Ally are my closest friends. I absolutely adore them being with me through the hard moments, everything.”
Amidst the drama and chaos this season, it turns out the friendships – rather than the romantic relationships – were keeping Farmer Wants A Wife’s wholesome reputation alive.
