After controversial ‘villain’ Miranda departed from the series, Farmer Wants A Wife fans expected the drama to be over.
Oh, how they were wrong!
Following some of the final solo dates for the season – hand-picked by the farmers’ families – insecurities were brought to the surface.
Farmer Dylan went on a romantic sunset picnic with intruder Keeley, which, while adorable, ended up causing more chaos than the farmer and contestant could’ve expected.
Upon hearing that Keeley and Dylan had kissed on their date, Ally fled the farm, giving him an ultimatum in the form of a handwritten note. The drama!
The next morning, Farmer Dylan walked into the living room to see a very nervous-looking Scarlett, who broke the news of Ally’s exit to the rodeo star. After reading the letter (first Eddy, now Ally…what’s with all the letters this season?), Dylan told the cameras he “felt broken” and left Scarlett and Keeley to go think.
Speaking to WHO, Dylan revealed why Ally’s exit shook him so much, admitting that he expected it to be another contestant entirely.
“It was a proper shock,” he said. “I thought our recent date gave a lot of clearing, and I felt like we were in a good spot, and then, yeah, it all got shook up once Keeley and I went on that date.”
“I didn’t expect her to leave at all.”
‘Her exit caught me completely off guard’
While none of the farmers could predict that any of their ladies would leave the show, Dylan confessed to WHO that he was told that one of his matches had left, but that he thought it was someone else entirely.
“If I’m dead honest, prior to Ally leaving, I was given a heads-up that someone had left,” he said. “I was all like, ‘all right’, and I instantly thought it was Scarlett, because Scarlett had tried to leave the country fair.”
“I kind of went in thinking it was Scarlett, and when I saw Scarlett sitting in the lounge room, I was like, ‘Oh, okay, must be Keely then’, because I never thought Ally would have left. When Ally wasn’t here, I was like, ‘Yeah, right, this isn’t good.'”
Dylan added: “Her exit caught me completely off guard.”
Throughout the whole show, Dylan has reassured Ally about their connection. While Ally opened up about being hurt in the past, it was only Scarlett who joked about leaving the show at the Country Fair after not having enough time with the farmer.
However, this decision was quickly reversed after she interrupted a conversation between Dylan and Ally, said her piece, and earned herself a solo date.
While watching someone you’re falling for go on dates with other girls must be hard, it was – after all – what the contestants signed up for. Perhaps Ally wasn’t as prepared for this reality as she thought.
‘It just felt like playing a little kid’s game’
After Ally’s dramatic ultimatum was teased on Sunday night, fans were divided over whether Dylan will (or should) chase after Ally.
“I don’t blame her,” one fan wrote online after seeing Ally leave. “Dylan made Ally feel they were going to be making plans in the future.”
“But that’s how the show works!” another countered. “They have to have the patience to allow the farmer to connect with all his girls! They should have known that’s what they signed up for!”
“Very immature behaviour,” another viewer agreed. “He was on a date that was chosen for him and trying to build on connections, does she not understand the process of this show??”
This reaction was not all that dissimilar to Dylan’s feelings in the moment.
“I think in that moment when I found out she left, my initial reaction was like, ‘are you kidding me?'” Dylan told WHO. “This could have been a conversation.”
“Instead, it just felt like playing a little kids’ game, and I suppose that’s something that I was more or less a bit rattled about.”
When Dylan eventually chased after Ally, the argument she gave to him was that, since she didn’t “have an idea as to which way [Dylan] was leaning,” she was questioning what she was doing there at all.
Dylan did everything he could to reassure her.
“I don’t want you to leave,” he said. “I need you to know that I feel really strongly for you and I don’t want you to leave at all. Our connection is different, and I don’t want to lose it. What do you need from me?”
However, while “more reassurance” was Ally was after – and she seemed pleased that he chased after her – Dylan still returned home solo, telling Scarlett and Keeley that Ally was “invited back”, but the “ball’s in her court.”
Will Ally return to the farm? We can guess all we want, but we’ll have to wait and see!
