The days of tuning into MAFS Australia to see genuine love stories unfold are well and truly over.
These days, viewers watch the reality show knowing that they are in for screaming matches instead of romantic ones.
Despite this, scores of men and women apply to Married at First Sight each year in the hopes of finding either love or clout or, ideally, both. While the experts sometimes get it right – like with Stella and Filip, who seem genuinely compatible – they more often than not leave us wondering what on earth they were thinking by putting two people together.
This, of course, often leads to some explosive exits at the weekly Commitment Ceremony (and sometimes even before them!).
Here are all of the people who have quit MAFS 2026 so far.

Rebecca and Steve
Older couple Rebecca and Steve seemed to get off to a promising start, bonding at their wedding over their shared family values and both being single parents.
However, it wasn’t long before the cracks started to appear, with Steve complaining that Rebecca was “too much” for him and noting that he was “more conservative” than his bride.
This was particularly evident during the Intimacy Week challenge when Steve declined Rebecca’s suggestion of donning a sexy “boss b*tch” outfit and a sex whip.
She explained it was one of the “most covered up” options in the shop and gave it to Steve to inspect, asking if he’d like her to put in on.
However, his reaction wasn’t expected, confessing: “I’d rather not. It’s not something, I guess, it’s just not for me.”
Ultimately, the couple were not able to get things back on track and decided to both leave the experiment at the Commitment Ceremony on February 22nd.
“I came here for love, and I didn’t get what I wanted, Rebecca said. “I’m not going to settle and waste any more of my time. I wrote leave.”

Brook and Chris
Although sparks didn’t really fly during their wedding, Brook and Chris hit it off just enough to make viewers think that perhaps there could be romance in their future.
That was until the reveal of Chris’s audition tape, in which he revealed that a woman being overweight was a “dealbreaker.”
After seeing this, Brook found it hard to be in the presence of her “husband” and this was brought to a head during Intimacy Week when she turned down his offer of drinking champagne and doing face masks.
Brook ended up leaving the experiment, only to make a surprise return at the dinner party, where she proceeded to tear down several of the other brides, including Stella and Alissa.
When questioned about her actions at the following Commitment Ceremony, Brook was reluctant to take any accountability and said she was going to the loo….only to do a runner and never be seen again.
Of course, we now know the model is engaged and pregnant to her ex-boyfriend, so it is safe to say she and Chris did NOT get a happy ending.

Mel and Luke
Mel and Luke appeared doomed from the start after Luke was not only late to the wedding (in his defence, he had forgotten the ring) and then chewed gum throughout the ceremony.
These two transgressions were enough to leave Mel cold on the prospect of romance and, despite making some small gains during Intimacy Week and becoming friendlier, the pair just couldn’t find a spark.
After being grilled by the experts for not giving Luke enough of a chance, Mel revealed she had chosen to write “leave” with her groom revealing the same answer.

Grayson and Julia
It was quite the rollercoaster for Grayson and Julia, with the couple keeping viewers on the edge of their seats with their “will they/won’t they” vibe.
Despite trying to connect and form a lasting connection, Julia admitted that she just wasn’t feeling it, going so far as to move into a different apartment ahead of the Commitment Ceremony.
Although the pair were amicable and respectful in their “breakup” – telling each other they were grateful to have met but both choosing to leave – a tearful Grayson also told the experts that it was really hard as he was just so desperate to find love.

Stephanie and Tyson
The end of this couple’s time on the show was definitely a dramatic one (then again, aren’t they all!).
Due to challenges with Tyson’s polarising personality, Stephanie brought her concerns to the couch during the season’s fourth Commitment Ceremony. However, despite just wanting to have a “constructive conversation” with Tyson about how she wants him to be “more aware” about the “impact of his words”, Tyson was not open to feedback.
Instead, he claimed that Steph was “putting words in [his] mouth” and that he’s “not a bad person”, before storming out of the room and leaving a tearful Steph to be consoled by expert Mel and the other contestants.
However, despite Steph’s tears, fans are relieved to be rid of this intruder groom, and are ready for less controversial personalities to be taking up space on their screens.
